Macrobenthos in the seagrass meadow of Taka Bonerate National Park South Sulawesi

Abstract Taka Bonerate waters are the third largest atolls in world, rich marine biodiversity, natural structures and aesthetics. Seagrass beds these grow well on small islands, one of coastal ecosystems that support biodiversity have many benefits for humans economic, social cultural aspects. This study aimed to examine diversity, distribution, abundance macrobenthos several islands National Park, South Sulawesi. The was conducted using quadratic transect method. A total 24 species macrobenthos, representing 11 six genera gastropod; 8 seven bivalves; 2 four echinoderm group were recorded. Families Conidae Strombidae gastropod groups relatively more diverse than other families. Two with high density represented by Protoreaster nodosus Tripneustes sp. from (class Asteroidea) 1.15 individuals/m 0.91 a frequency attendance 62.50% 75.00%, respectively. Other density, uniformity, richness index vary between stations which distribution macrobenthic fauna stable community. There two clusters formed, 50% similarity low similarity. It concluded relationship composition seagrass habitat at each observation station quite strong, where diversity tend increase habitats.
